WOW. As a person who was once like "Peas and Carrots" with the author, I am surprised how much personal insight is shared in this book. As a very family oriented person it is hard for me to grasp this individual engineering. I have seen a new map that could be used for individual success. A whole new approach to self-help. I have read nothing like it before.
I very deep book you have a brilliant mind
I love how Chris uses his life experiences, triumphs, and even failures to help readers learn and grow in their own lives. Having lived through many similar situations, I now have a greater understanding of myself and the person that I've become. His review of thought length patterns has been especially helpful to me as a special education teacher. Applying the skills and techniques described has allowed me to recognize and address various needs and learning patterns that had previously been over looked. This book is inspirational on multiple levels self-motivation, understanding the world around you and your reaction to it, removing the unnecessaries, encouraging positive growth and living the life that you were designed for.
Chris Gorog’s introspective book Inner Logic - Engineering Your Life is a welcome addition to the pantheon of self-help literature. Gorog unapologetically reviews the positive and negative events in his life with a precision and honesty not frequently come by. And yet this is the instrumental exercise that needs to be undertaken in order to identify those moments, those turning points that ultimately take an individual down a particular path in life. In many ways, this work serves as a fierce and intimate autobiography, a chronological progression of the author’s personal recollections and reflections.
The tone of the work is very reminiscent of poetry’s “confessional” school deeply personal and addressing an individual’s private experiences and presenting them for public consumption. This is a daring feat, and like confessional poets, Gorog invites the reader into his life, not only his own, but that of his family’s as well. Family is an important theme throughout the work and serves as a root by which the book grows as a whole. In one part, the author reveals
“I permitted the pattern of my acceptance of the incorrect action or opinion and the pattern of others’ assumptions of correctness to continue for extremely long periods.”
In such a simple acknowledgement of his actions, the author attains an immediate connection with the reader. He becomes a trustworthy narrator worthy of our confidence. There is a reason why integrity is so important in the writing craft that includes both fiction and nonfiction. Readers can immediately recognize counterfeit emotion. And yet when writing succeeds, it occurs when the author has put himself out there, holding nothing back. This is exactly where the work derives its greatest strength; by being completely open, the integrity and honesty of the work shines through and imparts an authenticity that few works of this genre attain.
This is a striking work and succeeds in not lecturing the reader but encourages him to use the author’s life as a paradigm that is very accessible and relateable. The lessons learned do not apply to one person but are applicable to a larger audience whose experiences are inevitably very similar on base levels. This is a good book for those seeking to regain focus and control over their lives and demonstrates that even the most seemingly daunting impasses can be overcome through determination and conviction.
I haven't finished the book but what I have read so far is really good. I will update this when I finish reading it. I think Chris brings about honest insight and logic. It is worth a read in my opinion.
